SAVING PARADISE - Climate Change Game

interactive, game design, mixed media

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Saving Paradise is a proposed game designed for Oxfam’s design4change campaign. The game aims to communicate the implications caused by climate change in developing countries and will show the user the way in which people now must live as a result of rising sea levels. The game aims to target young adults, as they will be able to help take action on the issue now and also in the future.

As well as using typical game design features Saving Paradise also uses traditional watercolour backdrops. This technique gives the game a more delicate appearance and is also more appropriate for chosen demographic.

The main character of the game is Zion, a bird of paradise, from the island of Bougainville in Papua New Guinea. With his strength, and courage help Zion fly his way to the nearby island of Carteret and save the local people from the effects of rising sea levels.
